OUR SECONDARY MARKET VALUE AND POLICIES... A print's value increases greatly on the art market after all copies of an edition are sold at the original issue price. Many factors influence this ever-changing price, such as having a low number, supply & demand, popularity of the artist, etc. A person, who purchased a print at issue price, may decide to sell it on the secondary market, to another collector at a much higher price than originally paid.
Looking for a print? Let us help you find it on the secondary market! We belong to the nation's leading Art Locating Service, The Art Expediter!
When a print is sold out from the publisher or artist, and no longer available to the art dealers or public, it is then a "sold out edition".
Dealers who have these prints in inventory, or private collectors who own the prints after they are no longer available, make up what is called "the secondary market". The artwork is then bought and sold as the fair market demand dictates. In simpiler words: The buying and selling of artwork on the open market after all original inventory is sold by the artist or publisher, is referred to as the "Secondary Market". What is the Secondary Market? How does it work?
